Classics Today

Among modern recordings, Endres’ Schubert Impromptus take a well-deserved place alongside Pires, Lupu, and Perahia, along with a live version from 2000 by Konstantin Lifschitz . . .more

Gramophone

“The mastery and individual imprint that distinguishes this splendidly engineered release is only to be expected of Michael Endres, whose large and wide-ranging discography may be one of the piano world’s best kept secrets.” ( Faure CD, July 2018 )

New York Times

“The performances with the superb pianist Michael Endres were revelatory”.

Diapason

“Splendidly recorded by Cologne Radio, in an acoustic which allows the piano to resonate with a fullness, a brilliance without hardness, and a breadth of sonority which is ideal for Schubert, these works chosen by Michael Endres flow endlessly between jubilation and drama.”

Boston Globe

“One of the most interesting pianists recording today…” Richard Dyer “John Wiser and Charles Timbrell reviewed two earlier issues, both of them with high praise, and I will go further and state that this is superlative Schubert playing […] Michael Endres is a very special Schubertian, and this disc is highly recommended..”

Fanfare, USA

There are many very fine recordings of the great “Wanderer” Fantasy-by Curzon, Richter, Pollini, Brendel, Perahia, and Kissin, among others-and Endres’ belongs to that elite group. He has the technique to vary his sound, even during the most intense and loud passages; and in the more lyrical moments he plays with a flexibility that seems just right, never exaggerated.
Charles Timbrell,Fanfare( January 2010)

BBC Music

“He is an outstanding Schubert interpreter.”

Gramophone

Michael, this evening I have listened for the first time to 2 of your CDs, the recent Faure one and the Schubert Impromptus etc. Absolutely wonderful performances and they really excel in their clarity and musicianship. Thank you.
