Igor Zhukov (31 August 1936 – 26 January 2018) was a bit of a fixture in the 1980’ies during my studies in Munich. He played there regularly and was considered a “Geheimtipp”, as Zhukov never made it into the limelight of stardom, But what an amazing musician he was and he was particularly renowned for his Skrjabine interpretations. On You Tube there have been long deleted LP uploads of some of his wonderful recordings. His recitals were real events for piano connoisseurs, unforgettable.
Here are two of my favourites: the haunting Preludes Opus 16 and the elusive 4 Piano pieces Opus 51. All in beautiful LP transfers.
